Gabriel Gomez says that he’ll be “dropping by the Boston Pride Festival in Boston (City Hall Plaza) at 3:00 pm” today. He apparently still hasn’t figured out (or is uninterested in recognizing) that marriage equality isn’t the only lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issue that a US Senator needs to understand and will be voting on in this year.
I hope someone asks him specific questions — on camera — about Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) and open service for transgender soldiers, so that fair-minded Bay Staters aren’t taken in by his one-note statements around marriage.
It’s all well and good to be “against any kind of discrimination”, as he is fond of saying, but we have no indication whatsoever that Mr. Gomez understands the many ways LGBT people are discriminated against, let alone whether he is willing to work to remedy the situation in Congress.
