Here is the hard link for the event. The date is 9/5/13. The location is at The Regent Theatre, Arlington at 7 Medford Street, Arlington at 7:00 PM. Plenty of parking and directions on the hardlink for the event.
As some may not know, the kill rate of pancreatic cancer is 95%. In 40 years, there has been no significant progress in fighting this killer. My husband died from this dreadful disease on September 5, 2012 – and in his memory and honor, music will be made 9/5/2013.
Marc sang all his life; I first met him when he sang in the Opera Chorus of the university we both attended. He sang the music of the Caucuses with a band of musical brothers called Iveria from 1992-2012 – he sang in the Arlington Ward Choir of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1983 – 2012. And so the music he loved will fill the theater, as it did for his last performance with his friends on July 8, 2012 at which he marvelously and miraculously was able to sing. As everyone who was there on July 8, 2012 knows, that was a special concert and a special night. I have every reason to believe that 9/5/12 will be special as well – the proceeds will be divided 50/50 between Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The ticket price is only $10 – and tickets can be purchased in advance at The Regent Theater.
For those who cannot attend but wish to donate, checks may be made out to either The Dana Farber Cancer Institute (with in memory of Marc Aaron Butler in the memo line) or similarly, to the Pancreatic Cancer Network. Checks can then be mailed to c/o Butler, 19 Overlook Road, Arlington, MA 02474.
The Regent Theater is not charging for the use of the theater, (except for a $1.00 facility fee) nor is the graphic artist nor the singers. The proceeds will go to research, not expenses. I hope to see you there; the human heart can hold joy as well as sorrow and beauty.
