Interested voters are invited to hear candidates at a forum here in Westborough on Tuesday, August 20 at 7 PM at Tatnuck Bookseller at 18 Lyman Street, in Westborough. On Tuesday we will have two speakers.
Steve Kerrigan is a candidate for Lieutenant Governor. He was the CEO of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in 2012. Additionally, he was co-chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Kerrigan has worked for a number of elected officials, including President Barack Obama. Senator Kennedy, Mayor Menino, and Attorney General Tom Reilly.
Dan Wolf is a candidate for Governor. He is the State Senator from Cape Cod and founded Cape Air. Wolf has worked as a pilot and as a community and union organizer.
7:00 PM Call to order and brief business meeting
7:15 PM Steve Kerrigan
7:45 PM Break
8:00 PM Dan Wolf
8:30 PM adjourn
Each candidate will have a full half hour. Typically candidates make a presentation for about 15 minutes and then spend the rest of their time taking questions form the audience. As is our custom, I expect that some people will be joining us at Ruby Tuesday after the event.
We’ve used this format in the past and it works well. There is sufficient time for a candidate to go into a little more detail than they normally can at a quick “drop by” at a cookout. Cookouts are great, don’t get me wrong, but there is a place for a format that gives candidates some time and also allows for questions. The break between candidates is also important.
There are many other events around the state coming up: Peter Koutoujian events, Democratic Women’s Pool Party, Melrose Dems Cookout, Framingham DTC BBQ, John Connolly Fundraiser, Meet and Greet with Leland Cheung, Westborough DTC Meeting with Dan Wolf and Steve Kerrigan, Dedham Dems BBQ, Waltham Dems Picnic, Rep. Tom Calter Birthday Cookout Fundraiser, Malden Dems Cookout, Rep. Parisella Lobster Bake, Young Leaders for Congressman Tierney, Sacco & Vanzetti Commemoration with Gov. Michael Dukakis, Beverly Dems Cookout, Summer BBQ for Carl Sciortino, Mike Lake Vineyard event, Cambridge vs. Boston Hometown Throwdown with Leland Cheung and Tito Jackson.
Details on the above events are found in the calendar section in Donaghue’s Democratic Dispatch. Subscribe by sending an e-mail to DDemDispatch-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . It is a more or less weekly e-mail newsletter of Democratic events across the state.
I got your voicemail and the facebook invite for this – thanks, but I’m busy on Tuesday night, Casino Free Milford is gathering to map strategy for the referendum.
