His decision to drop out makes me think he was never serious about it. Remember, the Ethics Commission never said he had to drop out. They said he couldn’t become Governor if elected. He had plenty of time to challenge that in court.
I’ve kind of wondered since I heard Doug Rubin was working with him. Rubin is Steve Grossman’s consultant, and Grossman’s going for it. Working for both would be a conflict of interest. Unless Dan provides some benefit to Grossman, e.g. by splitting the progressive, non-establishment votes so Grossman could win on the strength his establishment support. So I wonder if perhaps he was persuaded to run by big talk from Rubin or someone else who didn’t really have his best interests at heart.
Come on Dan. If you really want to be Governor, stay in the campaign, and stop cozying up to Steve Grossman’s consultants. I like your policies. I like the fact that you have actual experience running a business, not just managing one daddy built and gave to you, like some politicians. I like the fact that you stood up to Grossman when he was blaming EBT recipients for all the state’s woes. I was initially very excited by your campaign. I would’ve voted for you if Capuano stayed out.
But my opinion started to head south when I heard about the collusion with Doug Rubin, and this isn’t helping. If you want any kind of future in public office, you need to grow a spine. Challenge the Ethics Commission’s decision. Stay in the race, and run it the right way. Now that Capuano is looking less and less likely to get into the race, there’s not a progressive frontrunner. This is your chance to seize that mantle. If Grossman’s people did trick you into running, turn the joke around on them and win. But if you give up so easily, I can only conclude that you didn’t really want it. You were just a ringer.
Not enough.
Great background, great ideas. But he should fight.
I guess the “fight or flight” decision always goes a certain way among airline founders.
Not sure what you have against me, but just for the record, let me address a few of the allegations you made in this post:
1. There is no conflict of interest – I am not working (nor would I ever work) for two candidates in the same race.
2. I did not persuade Dan Wolf to run. He is perfectly capable of making that decison on his own.
