I’ll give you a hint. We’re talking about a man who is already well-versed when it comes to “secret meetings with kings and queens.”
Yes, Scott Brown.
From the Des Moines Register:
“ ‘I’m going to be coming out more often to try to determine whether there’s an interest in my brand of leadership and Republicanism,’ Brown told The Des Moines Register in a telephone interview this afternoon.”
And this:
“Asked about his presidential ambitions, Brown said: ‘I think a lot of people today, they live in a bubble. They live in their home state and they don’t leave their comfort zone or try to expand their knowledge or understanding of what’s happening around the rest of the country or in the rest of the world, in some instances.
‘I want to understand the challenges and the opportunities and the aspirations of the people in the Midwest and how they view us and vice versa,” he said. “I want to see if there’s interest in my brand of politics, being a strong national security hawk and a fiscal conservative. The way I see it, hey, there’s plenty of room for people in the party like me and Sarah Palin and Rand Paul and Chris Christie, yet we’re always attacking each other for not fitting some ideologically pure mold.'”
Sure sounds like a listening tour to me. And that’s about as close to a commitment as anyone will come at this point in the game.
While he won’t be considered a front-runner–and I can’t see how he’d do well in the Republican primaries–Brown’s candidacy should be taken seriously. He’ll be the less confrontational, less harsh alternative to Chris Christie among the moderates in the race. While many in the party want to take it in a libertarian direction, there are many others who understand the necessity of appealing to moderates and just want to win.
Scott Brown–SCOTT BROWN!–might be their best option to do just that.

The Fox gig was a clear signal.

Running, I mean, and probably lots of fun if you don’t actually plan on winning.

Alan Keyes was a professional presidential candidate for a long time. It seems Newt Gingrich has assumed his mantle.
