I’ve heard from several subscribers that they did not get my weekly newsletter. Normally, when time permits, I post it here. I made a point of doing this today so that people who might read the Dispatch can easily find it. To my readers, I can’t make promise that I will always send the Dispatch, but I do promise that, if that day comes, I will notify people in advance. I think I need to give serious consideration to moving away from yahoogroups. I’ve asked folks for suggestions in the past and I hear about Nation Builder and Mail Chimp. People don’t pay for the Dispatch so I need to self fund.
Congratulations to Carole Fiola, Dan Cullinane and my good friend Dan Donahue. They were all elected to the House of Representatives this past week. Special elections are a great way to help out candidates across the state. I had a lot of fun knocking on doors in Worcester in the Donahue race (no relation).
The DSC met in Worcester this past Saturday. There was extensive discussion around a number of issues relating to the Convention Rules. The DSC also voted on the process for selecting delegates. Important notes:
– The proposal to return to the practice of allowing two chances for 15% was defeated.
– The proposal to cut off delegate alternate switching on Wednesday was defeated.
– The call to order will be at 9AM on Saturday with 10AM roll call.
– The Method of Selecting Delegates was changed to require delegates to be present to get elected, with an exception for people on active military duty.
– The caucus window was set for Feb 8 to Mar 2.
Following the DSC meeting, members canvassed for Dan Donahue. It was gorgeous day. I was very impressed that Senator Tom McGee, candidate for DSC Chair, came out canvassing with our group. He joined us at our gathering at a local pub and talked about his vision for the State Party.
