If you live in Fairhaven, you should vote for Peter DeTerra for Board of Health on Monday September 9th. Read Peter’s candidate profile in the New Bedford Standard-Times, along with endorsements by Fairhaven residents Alfred Raulet and Donald Mulcare.
Peter isn’t some wild-eyed treehugger, but he knows the value of Fairhaven’s wind turbines, both to the town’s public health and to its bottom line. He voted for a deal that’s keeping the turbines running 24/7 collecting clean energy while making sensible adjustments to dampen their noise on the loudest days.
Meanwhile, his opponent John Wethington is the candidate of the anti-wind extremist group “Windwise.” Wethington is literally a single-issue candidate – he is only running to shut down the Fairhaven wind turbines and return the town to its dependence on dirty, imported fossil fuel energy. While the vast majority of Fairhaven residents support the wind turbines, anti-wind extremists have found success in recent town elections because they all turn out to vote.
Strike a vote for moderation by making your plan now to vote for Peter DeTerra on Monday September 9th. Figure out when next Tuesday will work best to vote – before work? after you pick up the kids from school? – and set a reminder now in your phone or on your calendar.
