The Boston Globe is reporting that someone has started a fund to help the guy out. Details are in the Boston Globe story.
Since I am, for all practical purposes, a H8r of the Red Sox, I will not be enabling this level of senseless destruction. I hope it rains on Saturday.

You being a big fan of Obamacare, why not require everyone to buy auto insurance with $500 or even $200 deductible, instead of allowing $1000 deductible likemthis gentleman has. Even if your car is worth just $800, require every motorist to have collision coverage, $2 million liability, towing, key replacement, and rental. That way, people can waste money on comprehensive auto insurance similar to what Obamacare is requiring on the health side.

Keep up the good work Dan.

Mind you, I was never taken to a professional sporting event growing up. My father viewed these events as “bread and circuses to distract the masses from their plight” and also, boring. So the core of me, what is formed as a child, has no resonance or interest in professional sports. I have never pretended otherwise. But using a sporting event as an excuse to be out of control is just plain idiotic and the overgrown juveniles involved should have a non-extinguishable debt to pay for all costs, including law enforcement – and medical – and property damage. And be required to attend a 12-step meeting every day for 90 days (if, as I hope, there is court action coming down the road in their direction – there are for sure cell phone photos and videos – these days you can be sure that jerks are photographed and in digital video)

I have yet to meet the person eager to act out who, on weighing pros and cons, decides to wait for a sporting event because it provides the best excuse.
Isn’t acting out usually just an expression of exuberance whose excesses are fed by those great destroyers of inhibition, alcohol and crowds?

Perhaps.
Some substance abuse groups talk about “Top line” and “Bottom line” behavior. The “Bottom line” is drinking oneself to oblivion. The “Top line” is “socializing with a few colleagues after work”. If you don’t want the bottom line, avoid the top line.
Nobody dragged the mob into the bar. A whole lot of us stayed home Wednesday night. One of the great benefits of Somerville over Coolidge Corner is that it’s a LOT further away from the Fenway riots.
