Please take a minute and visit our legislative scorecard to view the most up to date roll call votes from this week. Our scorecard webpage is located at: www.MassFiscalScorecard.org.
We added three key votes that took place this week, all of which were from the House of Representatives in the Massachusetts legislature. They dealt with holding public hearings across state in advance of tax increases and having the state Auditor to conduct a full-scale audit of the Department of Transitional Assistance for calendar 2013. The three key votes we added had Republican and Democratic support but each failed to garner a majority of support in the Legislature.
When you visit our scorecard, you can search by a lawmaker’s name or your zip code. You can view the entire legislature and how they scored. If you like the site, please share it on social media and with your colleagues and friends. As always, feel free to email us at scorecard (at) massfiscal (dot) org with any suggestions for improvement.

Why would a legislator get a bad score if they voted to increase revenue, especially in a responsible way?
Your organization claims to be about fiscal responsibility, but looking at the scores, it seems like the concern is really about lower spending and lower taxes, which do not necessarily mean fiscal responsibility (often it can be the opposite).

about what they say is a good score or a bad score? They provide the stats and vote counts, in my opinion its a great way to pin down people who agree with them to their positions

The scorecard will allow you to view key votes. If you agree with our position, that’s great. If not, that’s fine too. The data is there for you to view on your own.

Is it true fiscal responsibility or is it fiscal responsibility mainly through lower taxes and lower spending?

They are big C conservatives drinking supply side Kool-Aid underneath their Laffer curves. That said, any Democrat that does well on their card is a Democrat that needs to be primaried. The scorecard is a great resource for determining which Democrats in our legislature are really Republicans (Timilty and Connolly are high on this list). Contrasted with Progressive MA it’s almost a mirror universe. That’s where the real fiscally responsible members are.

I just wanted to see if they would admit their bias.

For every vote, we score their vote, we make that incredible clear.
