HRI/Arbor counseling is a major source of mental health facilities in this state. Their facility in Brookline is only one incident that has been investigated. Yet they continue to operate with only “window dressing” changes. The doctors and others in charge of patients’s welfare seem to have gotten off the hook. Does anyone know if anything is being done about this? This is an outrage.
I had to make this clear in a comment I made under the article:
“There must have been psychiatrists and other professionals involved who were constant witnesses to such abuse and the state of the facility. If this incident took place as described they should have known about it. Were these nurses and aides following a doctor’s orders? Physicians have the singular responsibility to ensure safe and proper care of their patient, at the least. Maybe the Globe should investigate their behavior to see if some professional personnel should be dismissed or if their conduct was egregious enough to be fined or jailed. If the same individuals are allowed to continue practicing at the hospital, history will likely repeat itself. This situation speaks loudly for a greater number of non profit mental health facilities where the bottom line is secondary to good care, and to remove a haven of incompetent staff.”
