Sunday is making me feel wicked old (Open Thread)

This Sunday will be the 50th anniversary of the Beatles performing on the Ed Sullivan show for the first time.

While I did not see the original broadcast, I did not become a fanatic about the Beatles until I was in High School around 1974 but I remember a similar countdown to the 20th anniversary in February 1984. I further remember the Saturday morning cartoon version that was (I believe) post Help but pre Sgt. Pepper.

In case you missed it, all this week, the David Letterman show has been doing Beatle related tributes as the show is filmed on the stage of the former Ed Sullivan studio and some have been spectacular. CNN has been showing portions of a British Invasion Documentary all week that has also been tremendous. And last night, PBS showed Magical Mystery Tour in all its smaltzy splendor.

    In an interview, the three-term senator acknowledged that he did not have a home of his own in Kansas. The house on a country club golf course that he lists as his voting address belongs to two longtime supporters and donors — C. Duane and Phyllis Ross — and he says he stays with them when he is in the area. He established his voting address there the day before his challenger in the August primary, Milton Wolf, announced his candidacy last fall, arguing that Mr. Roberts was out of touch with his High Plains roots.
