That is, I think there will be a group of holdouts who will have to accept marriage equality due to a court order. West Virginia may be among the last states, but I’d bet there will be ten or twelve where marriage equality happens at the same time.

Last to end segregation (symbolically) at the state level (1998), last to (symbolically) lift it’s ban on interracial marriage (2000), and it only narrowly avoided passing a rigid personhood amendment in violation of Roe v Wade. It still has segregated proms. It also passed an AZ style business “protection” law that is being enforced and received far less press. One hopes, as Shillelaghlaw does, that once we have a majority of states, the court will just overturn the bans where they still are. But I don’t see the voters or legislators in those states moving on equality anytime soon, we have to hope judges have courage like the one in Arkansas to do the right thing-and Windsor gives them a great citation.
Also congrats to Michael Sam!

I’m pretty sure MS ratified the 13th amendment in 1994 for thereabouts.

…I would not have colored Arkansas dark blue just yet. My understanding is that one county judge ruled for equal marriage and that the AG will continue to defend the ban.
I would be able to go back an fix the problem with Idaho. However, I posted this Monday Afternoon at 3:21PM and the decision in Idaho didn’t occur until Tuesday. Unfortunately, we live in a universe in which the arrow of time on points in one direction.
