We are a little over a month from the Convention and campaigns are hitting their stride. They are out in force, knocking on doors, talking to voters, making calls, going to events and other campaign things like marching in parades.
It’s clear to me that the Lake campaign has been gaining momentum. Their June fundraising numbers were incredible, in fact it was their best month on record. They beat their closest opponent nearly 2 to 1.
Money isn’t the only place where the Lake campaign is seeing success. They are excited about the endorsements that Mike has received for his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor. Since the convention Mike has received endorsements from Boston City Councilor Tito Jackson, Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan, State Senator Katie O’Connor-Ives of Newburyport,Representative Paul Brodeur of Melrose, Representative Gloria Fox and Representative Russell Holmes both of Boston, the Coalition for Social Justice and the Bay State Stonewall Democrats. They join endorsers Governor Michael Dukakis, State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz and Governor’s Councillor Eileen Duff, all leaders in the progressive community.
The campaign has restructured and now has experienced campaign professionals in all leadership positions. They have the momentum it will take to be successful in September. You don’t have to take my word for it, take a look at their facebook page for a list of the great media coverage they’ve received in recent weeks.
As I travel across the state for all my political activities I am impressed by the wide range of people who are supporting Mike. I see progressives, young people, members of the LGBT community and women all supporting Mike. Not surprisingly, one of Mike’s most committed supporters is his Mom. As we move into the final seven weeks of the primary, Mike is everywhere, but he can’t be two places at the same time. Mike’s Mom, Jeannie is a great surrogate. Mike is around so much that people have told that they are just as happy to hear from Jeannie because it helps them to get to know Mike as a person, beyond his stump speech.
Come meet Mike at a forum this Saturday on Cape Cod. I don’t have a link for it, but the details are in the Democratic Dispatch, a source of information about Democratic events and more here in Massachusetts.
I’m honored to stand with Mike in the closing weeks of the primary campaign. I hope you will support my friend Mike Lake for Lt Governor on Tuesday, September 9.

For your support and for your help on this great campaign. I think the Lake campaign has shown a positive and proactive vision for the office, one that is grounded in the realities of it’s limitations as well as the scope of it’s possibilities. He will continue his work as a liaison to municipalities, and continue in the Tim Murray tradition of focusing on Gateway Cities. The parade of mayors and locally oriented state legislators is a testament to this fact. As are the endorsements of pragmatic emerging progressive leaders like Sonia Chang Diaz and Jamie Eldridge. This one will come down to the wire, and it will be up to the grassroots to get him nominated in the home stretch.
