Happy Tuesday everyone! As September 9 draws closer, I thought I would post three videos that were really influential for me when I decided to support Don Berwick. If you have five minutes, I encourage you to check them out!
1. “Health Care is More about Love”: As someone currently in the process of applying to medical school, I draw inspiration every day from the amazing work that Berwick accomplished at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. In the midst of all the dysfunction that exists in our country’s healthcare system, knowing about successes like this helps keep me going as I continue on my path toward becoming a physician. Add to that the fact that Berwick, once named the third most powerful person in American healthcare, thinks that healthcare is more about love than anything else, and I was hooked.
2. Progressive Mass Forum- Building Movement for Change: Berwick impressed attendees at the 2014 Progressive Mass Policy Conference with this stirring speech on how he would advance his bold policy proposals through the legislature. It was no doubt influential in Progressive Mass’s decision to endorse Berwick.
3. Berwick on “change agents”: In this 2010 interview, Berwick gave this amazing answer to the question “What is your message to people who want to change their institutions and eventually their communities?” I get goosebumps every time I watch this.
If you are a Democrat or unenrolled voter in Massachusetts, please consider voting for Don Berwick on September 9. In my opinion, there is no other candidate as inspiring and qualified to lead us as our next Governor!

Gary Gottlieb earned $3,062,505 as the CEO of Partners HealthCare System in 2010 and the first half of 2011, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. That’s a lot of bread. What humors me is that Partners is a “not for profit” organization.
