I’ve been waiting to post what I’ve been telling friends, until enough people are paying attention. His track record for financial turnarounds, experience in government and private business speak for themselves. Elect him to do for the state what his fiscal acuity and bold progressive policies have done for the areas he impacted as treasurer.
We need to have a Governor who is a leader and a manager–who can expand these programs. As Treasurer, Steve has provided proactive stewardship, implementing fiscal policies and initiatives that are both sound and progressive.
Rep. Karen Spilka: “Steve’s proven track record of leveling the playing field for hardworking middle-class families speaks for itself,” Spilka said in a press release announcing the endorsement. “He has revolutionized the Treasury by bringing money back from overseas banks to deposit in local banks and create jobs across the Commonwealth.”
As Treasurer, he traveled around the state getting to know the situations and needs of cities and towns.at the local level.
Through his Small Business Banking Partnership program which aims to encourage local banks to offer loans to businesses owned by women, minorities, immigrants, and veterans, $17 million invested in our Hampshire and Franklin county banks alone, benefiting 330 small businesses.
Our legislators support him because he has shown himself a good partner in working with the Budget process, both listening & contributing information and perspectives.
He restructured the state retirement $49 billion fund to yield 10% returns, and won national recognition for it–Voted #47 of top 100 Chief Investment Officers http://www.ai-cio.com/Power_100.aspx?mid=47
He initiated a MA Green Bonds Investment program, and has leveraged the money to retrofit schools and government buildings.
Steve’s track record of honesty in business and the Treasurer’s office is a great counter to Charlie Baker’s track record of shady dealings. His accomplishments as businessman and Treasurer make him the best candidate, no matter what your party affiliation.

Steve has implemented progressive social justice practices in his business, his campaigns, and as treasurer–equal pay for women, diversity in hiring and promotion, financial literacy programs–and will expand these principles into practice in our state. Paid Sick Leave for all workers has been a policy priority since 2006, when he was the FIRST businessowner to testify at the state house: http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/stories/2006/07/17/story5.html?page=all
“The business community has a shared responsibility with the political community to create a nurturing environment for long-term employment stability in Massachusetts,” said Grossman, who is active in many Boston charities, including Project Bread and The Crittenton Women’s Union.

Steve is a hard worker. He’s worked hard as treasurer. And, he’s worked hard during the campaign. He earned the Globe endorsement, along with the endorsements of many of other newspapers. He’s also earning people’s votes.
Steve will be a great Governor.
