REPORTING FROM THE FRONT LINES… I rallied with my fellow Dems this morning at the Port Hole Pub for the Lynn DCC annual breakfast. I attended with my candidate for the 9th Essex House Rep seat, Chris Finn, who is challenging incumbent Republican Donald Wong. (I’m Chris’s volunteer campaign manager/consultant).
The speakers brought activists to their feet with barnburners: Martha Coakley, Governor Patrick (“It’s not about the polls or the pundits. It’s about the people”). Martha’s Cheerleader, Maura Healy was electric. Senator Ed Markey: “Lynn Democrats don’t agonize, they organize.” DSC Chair Tom McGee. This is a winning ticket !
I rushed home to catch the 6th District Congressional debate. Unbelievable. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Tisei kept interrupting Seth Moulton, refusing to let him answer the questions. His body language: PANIC ATTACK…I’M GONNA BLOW IT – AGAIN. THEY’RE GONNA CALL ME A 3-TIME LOSER !
And he lied about being of, by and for Main Street even after Seth slammed him as a shill for Wall Street.
WOW. I’m pumped. I spent the afternoon replacing the 100 lawn signs I put up in Wakefield for the TEAM that were damaged in the recent storm. That’s what politoholics do.
Strength and Honor, my fellow Dems ! All for One and One for All ! United we stand, divided we fall.
Forward to Victory,

not much else going on.
Have you ever met Donald Wong? He’s really a great guy. The only R inside 128.

Yes, I have met Donald Wong. He is a conservative Republican.
I was born in this district and have live here for 64 years and Wong is wrong on all the issues I care about as a lifelong progressive, unionist Democrat.
He is wrong on minimum wage, equal pay for women, earned sick leave, reforming the bottle bill, indexing the gas tax, reasonable gun control.
He is viewed by many as a shill for big business interests especially his own (he owns the Kowloon restaurant in Saugus).

I’m 55. I keep getting those AARP offers in the mail. Have you joined yet?
Are you sure you’re not harboring a hidden resentment of some sort?
BTW (that means by the way, fyi) do we really need another lawyer (which Finn is) in the state house? So he becomes a rep and leverages his position to help his practice. GREAT.

In the past Donald Wong was seen a real positive influence for Saugus, which is part of the reason he was able to defeat a long term incumbent to become State Rep.
Public perception of Mr. Wong has changed for the worse since his close allies on the Saugus Board of Selectmen started behaving in unsavory ways (Here and Here).
One of the members of the BOS was Wong’s campaign manager and the the three other members spiraling towards a recall vote are known supporters of Mr. Wong.
The Save Saugus group has launched a recall petition against 4 of 5 Saugus Board of Selectman (the Wong allies).
This situation does not cast a favorable light on Mr. Wong and it has many residents asking questions.
Chris Finn has become an excellent candidate to replace Mr. Wong. He may be a lawyer, but he is viewed as trustworthy.
He is young, passionate, intelligent, and has deep ties to the area.
This is a race to watch.
