“It’s harder to be a liberal than a conservative. Why? Because it’s easier to give someone the finger than a helping hand.” MIKE ROYKO
Tonight President Obama tackled immigration reform in an address to the nation – though you might have missed it because the three major networks refused to broadcast it. So much for the myth of the liberal media. But hey, I’m sure SWEEPS WEEK coverage of Kim Khardashian’s backside was more important to their ‘bottom line.’ But I digress.
First, some precedent and history. Every president since Ike has issued Executive Orders expanding some form of legal amnesty – yes, even Reagan, George H.W Bush (41) and Bush (43). Last year, the Senate passed bipartisan legislation – a pathway to citizenship – sponsored by those radicals John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio. The Republican House has been sitting on this bill for over 500 days and done nothing. Not a single proposal. No testimony. No debate. No negotiation. No compromise. No consensus. Nothing. Nada. Crickets.
And they call this GOVERNING? What a pathetic joke. All these whining, gutless cowards do is obfuscate, delay, attack and obstruct the black man in the White House; threatening him with nullification bluster, frivolous lawsuits, hysterical xenophobia, shutting down the government and idiotic impeachment.
Is it any wonder folks are disillusioned with a do-nothing, dysfunctional, gridlocked Congress polling in the single digits ?
Message to Congress. DO YOUR JOB. If you have a better idea than the President – let’s hear it. Otherwise shut up and get out of the way.
This country is moving forward – with or without you.

pass bipartisan legislation but the house sit on it? Do we elect smarter people to senate? I admire John McCain and Marco Rubio – don’t know a whole lot about Lindsay Graham.

and they wanted to pass a number of small bills each dealing with one aspect of the problem.

a number of small bills each dealing with one aspect of the problem, the House complaint would be that they wanted to pass something comprehensive.

…that we are on year 6 of continuing resolutions because Reid won’t allow a vote on any of the House budgets sent to the Senate over the years. All budgets must originate in the House, but the Senate has refused to address any of them.
Some people see this as 500 days vs. 2,000.

Always loved the Royko quote!

a few million emails may get the Speaker’s ear. It can’t hurt. Everyone who feels strongly that a bill should be passed should take the time to let John Boehner know. http://www.speaker.gov/contact
