YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Yet another update. Senator Warren is on her way. She was able to get a flight out of DC and is planning on stopping by. We don’t have an ETA but we are optimistic that all will work out.
UPDATE: Due to U. S. Senate votes, Senator Warren is unable to get to Massachusetts. Earlier today, I heard from Maura Healey, our Attorney General Elect that she will be joining us.
A special theme this year is celebrating BMG’s tenth anniversary. BMGers typically attend in force, although it is not exclusively a BMG event.
You’re all invited. Please join me at 17 Gary Circle in Westborough from 2 to 6 PM. It’s a football friendly, family friendly open house with people coming and going throughout the afternoon. I’ve got coat racks and a sign-in table set up in the garage. Children’s games are in the basement. It’s not for the claustrophobic. One BMGer told me that she came once and she’s glad she came, but she doesn’t plan to come again. Maybe she’s changed her mind and is ready to brave the crowds.
Expected guests include: Secretary of State Bill Galvin, Auditor Suzanne Bump, Treasurer Elect Deb Goldberg, Attorney General Elect Maura Healey, Congressman Jim McGovern, Congresswoman Katherine Clark, State Senators Jamie Eldridge, Tom McGee and Sal DiDomenico, State Reps Jen Benson, Carolyn Dykema, Paul Heroux, Kate Hogan, Chris Walsh and Representative elect Camine Gentile; District Attorney Marian Ryan, Governor’s Councilors: Marilyn Petitto Devaney, Bob Jubinville; Worcester County Register of Deed Tony Vigliotti. I’m pleased to mention that several people who ran for statewide office last year plan to join us: Joe Avellone, Mike Lake, Leland Cheung and James Arena DeRosa are all planning on stopping by. It’s a holiday open house with candidates coming and going like everyone else.
An added incentive to come to the holiday party is the chance to get a Democrat elected to a seat that is currently held by a Republican. Folks can knock on a few doors and then head over to my place for the big holiday party! I’ve created a separate facebook event for that. Both current Party Chair Senator Tom McGee and previous Party Chair John Walsh are planning on pre-party canvassing. I’ll be talking more about that race once we get through the holiday party. Instead of looking back at the Governor’s race, look forward to this winnable race. There are lots of voters to talk with out here. We’ve seen the poster around from Elizabeth Warren. “We can whimper, we can whine, we can fight back. Me? I’m fighting back.” RSVP here if you want to fight back and elect an outstanding Democrat, Jason Palitsch to this seat. While you are checking it out, like him on facebook as well.

Everyone is welcome. We are about a mile from the Westborough Commuter Rail station. We’ll arrange for a pickup for anyone who wants to come by train. Please note that street parking gets problematic. I’m encouraging people to park at the Middle School if possible. It’s at 20 Fisher Street in Westborough, just a couple of minutes walk.

Looking forward to it.
Elizabeth Warren will probably not be able to attend.
They just called to let me know. The Senator is working hard for the people of the Commonwealth.
I was looking forward to thanking her in person:(
in the Holiday spirit isn’t the joy the party brings with renewing acquaintances, seeing old friends, and making new ones more important than which political VIP is showing up. This party seems more like an exercise in massaging an ego than having fun.
Screw Liz Warren. Okay, a party is not the same without her dancing while wearing a lampshade and swigging from a half-empty tequila bottle but there are other less famous folks just as fun.
Blogging the list of VIPs going to your party is off-putting. It’s not a fundraiser ot a concert.
… when you don’t include any question marks?
You know… question marks… the specific punctuation that denotes a question. Lack of one makes your purported ‘questioning’ merely theoretical.
The astute might read your ‘questions’ as declarative, even diatribe… and come to the conclusion that you are a sad sad person.
do tell more@
I was. A wonderful opportunity to meet with fellow Democrats and an opportunity for our elected representatives to get up close and personal with the simple folks who matter. I did not get to greet Senator Warren as the outpouring of support and appreciation was overwhelming. I did get a change to give a big holiday hug to Maura Healey who is no doubt cut from the same cloth as Senator Warren. We are all fortunate to have these women in our party, along with of course, Kate!
Always nice to be able to put a face with a BMG handle!
I had a couple of opportunities for pictures with her:
I told her I was proud of the way she represents us in the Senate, and I spoke to her aide about having her appear on my cable TV show. I’ll be sure to write a post about the show if we manage to put it together!
After working all day Saturday, and after her extraordinary speeches on the floor of the Senate, she didn’t have to go to that party. Instead, she took a plane home on Sunday, and went directly from the airport. By making the effort to attend that party, Senator Warren sent a message to all Democratic activists. Her message is clear. Democratic activists are important to her.
That doesn’t impress me. Rather than thinking of the Hon Sen Warren as a political calculation machine I’d prefer, instead, to think that maybe she considers Kate and Kim (and others in attendance) good friends and, well, just wanted to celebrate the holidays.
I’d also like to think of activists as hardworking, and higher-minded, people who don’t constantly need their ego stroked… if they did need their ego’s stroked so constantly they’d probably be in Hollywood or Miami Beach… someplace were they don’t actually have to do anything for other people… waiting for it to just happen.
I don’t think that Senator Warren did any political calculation. I think she went to the party because she sincerely likes the people and because she respects everybody’s efforts.
As far as activists not needing their egos stroked, I think activists are like everybody else. Whatever we do, it’s always nice to know that are efforts are appreciated.
really dude. At best you were a pain-in-the-ass and at worst a potential crazed stalker.
This manufatured event seems more like a staged event the Red Sox would put on for the fans where the players mingle a little then leave.
They had to be there because it was important to a faction of the party hard cores. This was work.
But back to John T.
Slow it down. Sloooooow it down.
We will not be bullied!
you really do.
