I don’t know about you, but his willingness to take on this issue and go after those who are self-interested in this regard is a key reason I supported Ed Markey’s Senate bid. Sunday’s Globe is reporting that he is pushing for the disclosure of connections between scientists who express doubts about climate change and their oil industry funders.

look into the abject failures of the Solar and Wind Machine deals that have gone belly up. (despite mammoth subsidies). http://www.dividedstates.com/list-of-failed-obama-green-energy-solar-companies/
By the way Christorpher, what form of planet destructive energy are you using to stay warm today?
Maybe if we subsidized the heck out of them like we do oil things would work out better. I believe I have gas heat, but no, that does not make me a hypocrite – I’d love to live in a situation that gave me access to renewables. We need to ALL move in that direction and like many an addiction, can’t just be quit.
ANY startup is risky. Especially risky is investing in startups that run against the international grain of energy technology strategies.
To wit, a primary reason for the demise of Evergreen was the complete domination of solar PV manufacturing by well-funded Chinese startups. If we want to be competitive in alternative energy technologies, we need to invest MORE, not less.
In addition, our government provides massive subsidies to the petroleum industry. The effect of these subsidies is to keep the price of fossil-fuel energy so low that alternative energy is unable to cross the startup threshold of viability (a threshold that exists for every technology that requires massive up-front investment).
The apparent fraud exposed by the New York Times piece on Dr. Soon is directly responsible for the collapse of Evergreen, by misrepresenting the urgency of global warming. If you are unhappy about the loss of that investment, I would think you would be first in line to investigate the fraudulent “science” that contributed to its loss.
US Green energy portfolio turns profit.
Now, it’s true that’s not a great return on investment. But …
We are not going back.
