“We must live together as brothers, or perish together as fools.” REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING
How did it ever come to this ? The steady drumbeat of war grows ever louder from the right. The Republican party has become the party of perpetual war.
Now 47 Republican senators have written an open letter warning Iran that any peace deal they sign with the Obama administration could be nullified after he leaves office : ” It has come to our attention while observing your nuclear negotiations with our government that you may not fully understand our constitutional system. The next president could revoke such an executive agreement with the stroke of a pen and future Congresses could modify the terms of the agreement at any time.”
Despicable. And a clear violation of the Logan Act defining treason and sedition : ” Private correspondence with foreign governments. Any citizen of the United States, whoever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”
If these Republican chicken hawks are so gung ho to instigate another war for oil and empire in the Middle East let them volunteer their sons to reinstate American boots on the ground.

As conservative as the likes of Reagan and Gingrich were they at least were familiar with their job descriptions and in the mechanical sense knew how to govern. These days we have government by tamper tantrum. I’m reminded of a line from the opening song of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Evita”:
Instead of government we had a stage,
Instead of ideas a prima donna’s rage…
Just as Che accused Evita a couple lines later, these guys don’t seem to say much, but they say it loud!
