Rep. Elijah Cummings, Ranking Member of the Benghazi Select Committee, issued the following statement in response to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s admission about the Benghazi Committee’s true purpose : ” This stunning concession from Rep. McCarthy reveals the truth that Republicans never dared admit in public : the core Republican goal in establishing the Benghazi Committee was always to damage Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and never to conduct an even-handed search for the facts. It is shameful that Republicans have abused this authority in Congress by spending more that $4.5 million in taxpayer funds to pay for a political campaign against Hillary Clinton.”
This corrupt kangaroo court must be shut down immediately and all further hearings boycotted !

I’m not surprised that the GOP thugs feel this way, and act on those feelings. They’ve been doing that since the Clinton era.
What does surprise me, although it shouldn’t, is the pure arrogance of thinking they can publicly state that motivation and get away with it. In a more perfect world, this statement would disqualify Mr. McCarthy from becoming Speaker, no matter how desperately he attempts to walk it back (after the fact, of course).
I agree that this witch hunt should be terminated. Of course, in my view the entire GOP should declared clinically dead due to a prolonged lapse of measurable brain activity.
reports this am that some of the Puke rank and file are wavering on their pledge to McCarthy for Speaker. Wouldn’t that be a kick in the balls? To be undone by your own stupidity when all you had to was keep your mouth shut until the rubes voted you in !
