It is difficult to keep a simmering pot of fascism from boiling over. Not only is the Trump camp trying to suppress dissent, they are squeezing the media’s ability to freely report on events. This kind of stuff will only get worse over time.
I’ve tried to embed the video, but I’ve never been successful since the big BMG upgrade. So the best I can do is offer a link to the video. Hopefully one of the editors can embed.
Happy to oblige – Ed.

Of course the Trump campaign wants to suppress dissent. It is a cult, and like all cults depends on carefully controlling the information its followers and would-be followers have access to.
Wealth concentration will continue to be a major issue of this campaign. The media is already owned by the very wealthy. It is very much in the media’s self-interest to minimize and discredit the dangerously threatening desire of hundreds of millions of everyday Americans to take back the wealth that the 0.6% has stolen from us.
I hope the editors will embed the video in the thread-starter, because it’s the kind of information people need to have, and the media absolutely will not broadcast it.
Several of the media narratives are already apparent. Hillary Clinton is “strident” and “untrustworthy” and “opportunistic”. Bernie Sanders is “unelectable”. The issues that hundreds of millions of Americans care about don’t merit attention from CNN first-stringer Anderson Cooper during the debate — out-of-control student debt, uniformed violence against minorities, the Republican war on women.
The signature issue of Bernie Sanders — wealth concentration — is carefully avoided by instead posing “gotcha” questions that distort positions he took twenty five years ago (and obscure the participation of Anderson Cooper at the time).
The meaningless drivel of who won and who lost the debate, who said what to whom during the debate, and who is gaining and who people searched for during the debate obscures, in the media, the stark difference in SUBSTANCE between the GOP and the Democratic debates. It is obscuring the radical proposals now embraced by both Democratic front-runners for raising taxes on the wealthy. It is obscuring the lies offered again and again by the GOP, and refuted by all five Democratic candidates.
The media will script and control this campaign, just as it scripts and controls this government, if we let it. There was a time, a generation ago, when journalism took its role as the “Fourth Estate” seriously. That time is long gone.
The burden is now ours to keep the media, our candidates, and our governments honest and factual — truly “fair and balanced”.

…should be able to clear up whether Trump rented a particular room, the entire building, or the whole grounds. It does seem ripe for backfiring though. Isn’t there an expression about not picking a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel? Seems to me if I’m press and not allowed to cover something I would make THAT the story. Most suburban schools have plenty of room for demonstrators outside that would not affect the smooth operations of the event. As a side note, I could have sworn Trump was pro-choice, which is one example of why I think he is ultimately anathema to the base and therefore will not be the nominee.

…that TV stations getting the shaft would have lead with that as a news story. But to Tom’s point above, if the reporters get to aggressive, they’ll get shout out in the future and most likely their media organization will also. So the reporter would be in deep hot water if they really pissed off the Trump campaign.

“Fine, I’ll spend my resources covering more credible and qualified candidates anyway.”

…and that is the currency of TV News. Sadly Trump is big ratings.
Christopher says
…news was not seen as a ratings generator. Besides, when I turn on the news it’s to see what’s on, not because I already know I’ll see something exciting. If I wanted to see Trump for Trump’s sake I’d find an Apprentice rerun.

Trump was pro-choice but announced at the Feb 2015 CPAC that he had changed his position.
