Today, former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, announced he will NOT make a presidential run as a third party independent candidate. He said : ” a three-way race could lead to the election of a candidate who would imperil the security and stability of the United States : Donald J. Trump.”
This has to be good news for Team Clinton who feared his entry would split the progressive vote in Trump’s favor especially among common sense gun control advocates like Bloomberg.
The issue was debated hotly last night in Flint, MI when Hillary went after Bernie for not holding gun manufacturers and sellers liable if they don’t put existing gun safety features like safety locks and fingerprint technology ahead of corporate profit. The NRA immediately tweeted support for Bernie’s position to hold the gun makers harmless.
It will be interesting to see how this issue plays out moving forward.

Dates have not aligned for him. His optimum time would have been after his second term as mayor, but obviously was bumping up against Clinton at the time, though of course Obama won. If that had not occurred, 2012 would have been his time.
He’s past. Oh well. I’m sure he’s consoled by his tens of billions.

Fred, that quote is not from Bloomberg. (You’re killing us with these misquotes.) It is from other coverage of the announcement. And that coverage has been misleading.
The NYT article says:
The snippet promoting that article has some different language, which is the quote you provide.
Here is Bloomberg in his own words (emphasis mine):
I bring this up because the media has covered this announcement as if Bloomberg only mentioned Trump. He did not. He is just as hard on both Trump and Cruz. The media (including the NYT) only wants to cover things related to Trump, though.
