Just took a spin past the 2016 predictions thread from December, and it seems that I had the soothiest sooth said regarding the GOP nomination.
- After a strong win in Iowa, enough of the GOP establishment lines up behind Ted Cruz with hope of stopping Donald Trump. Trump has 40% of the delegates going into the convention, but Cruz comes through with a strong enough second to assemble a majority on the third ballot. In an attempt to broaden the ticket’s appeal, Cruz names Nikki Haley as his running mate.
Of course, that was then, this is now, and who knows what is going to happen next week. It was just fun reading through the predictions and what a bunch of interesting twists and turns took place over the past three months.

… you have achieved a veritable soothiness that speaks sooth above that of ordinary sayers of sooth. A seer-ious accomplishment.
David predicted Trump winning the nomination barring shenanigans at the convention, which at this point is completely spot on. Christopher was consistent in assuming Rubio would flame out. I called the IA order correct but was way off after SC in both primaries.
…though I did remember thinking the GOP would ultimately come around to Bush consistent with previous cycles and that Trump wasn’t going to get very far once people remembered they actually had to elect a President – oof!
