” We have met the enemy and he is us.” POGO
My greatest fear is the threat to national tranquility and world stability posed by the rise of neo-fascist extremism whether it takes the form of fundamentalist foreign terrorism OR reactionary domestic white supremacist violence.
At this critical moment in time I believe Secretary Hillary Clinton is uniquely qualified and positioned to lead America and the free world away from the dark brink of nuclear madness into the light of peace, prosperity and progress to save us all.

Let’s not get carried away. Russia was governed by a president who was drunk half the time. Israel’s leader veers toward paranoia. India’s politics are thoroughly balkanized. The military running Pakistan has a cat’s cradle of links with Islamic extremists. And those are all nuclear states. The American government is set up to slow strong efforts at reform (see Obama 2008-10), and can do the same with incompetence. The world will survive a poorly chosen American president. It has in the past.
The election of 1940 and 1944, sure, I’d have agree with you. But 2016? Eh.

In the nightmare scenario that we have a “President Trump” in February of 2017, what do YOU think would happen if that President Trump orders a preemptive nuclear strike on, say, North Korea or Syria (who knows who the scapegoat will be then).
The President is the Commander in Chief. If the president orders a nuclear strike, do you think the Pentagon will refuse it?

…when we could cause real harm I don’t think we’ve had an incompetent or dangerous President. The thought of a Goldwater presidency in 1964 doesn’t even scare me as much as Trump, or Cruz for that matter.

Maybe the world is at stake, but that would be due to climate change reaching a tipping point, which requires drastic action to prevent. If climate change is that close to the point of no return, then there is no difference between a do-nothing R and your incrementalist/lipservice D. Our only hope is Bernie Sanders who is “uniquely qualified and positioned to lead America and the free world away from the dark brink of” fossil fuels.
