…complete with a photo of her marching in today’s Pride parade. So many of the comments thereon were calling her a sellout for endorsing Clinton. Do these folks never stop to think that the person they have trusted and idolized just maybe is worth listening to on this matter as well?

I think the Bernie or Bust crew is motivated by an extreme hatred of HRC, which is why perfectly simple comments by both you and I are getting downrated and/or belittled;;
For example, when I said that heads were going to explode because of Warren appearing on Rachel Maddow’s show, I was simply making a snide remark towards EB3, but then several Bernie supporters became all bent out of shape simply because I wrote something in praise of HRC.

The Bernie or Bust crew may be smaller than is sometimes thought. The Guardian of the UK commissioned a poll that took place the day after the CA primary, including the possibility that Sanders might take Stein’s place as the Green nominee. In their reporting:
But the survey of 1,408 registered voters reveals limited appetite for this option, which would split the progressive vote. Presented with a four-way choice of Trump, Clinton, Sanders and libertarian Gary Johnson, 35% would vote for the presumptive Republican nominee, versus 32% for Clinton, 18% for Sanders and 4% for Johnson.
Yet when Sanders is removed from the equation and voters are offered the more expected lineup of Trump, Clinton, Stein and Johnson, it is the presumptive Democratic nominee who emerges on top with 39%, followed by Trump on 36%, Johnson at 6% and Stein on 4%. Only 5% of respondents told pollsters they would “stay at home and not vote” in this scenario.
I find the Johnson numbers revealing. They tell me that some, but not all of the Sanders voters may never have been reached by any Democrat. OTOH, HRC has the opportunity to grow her numbers from the Sanders camp, as long as she plays it well and her supporters turn off the flame against Team Sanders.
This was a lovely image. The Tabernacle Church in Salem has wonderful painted doors outside the church in the rainbow colors. This is the oldest church in Salem founded by Puritans, but today it’s led by a gay Latino pastor and is even more faithful to the teachings of the faith in this humble Christians opinion. I titled the photo Faithful Pride and would love to share it here.

…Tabernacle is not the church that was pastored by Samuel Parris and the epicenter of the witchcraft hysteria. That would be First Church of Danvers, which was then known as Salem Village. The Danvers church actually just closed in it’s current incarnation and will reopen in the fall as Disciples United Church of Christ, with four very specific mission/outreach foci, one of which is LGBT. As Registrar of the UCC Association to which both Tabernacle and 1st-Danvers/Disciples I am familiar with those churches. It’s a great testimony to religious evolution that Danvers is also now an Open and Affirming UCC congregation.

I made he cardinal sin of forgetting most of the accusers and accused were from Danvers, despite the “credit” my current hometown takes. That said, the rainbow doors were outside Tabernacle this week and I got a great shot of them.

…and apparently Danvers somewhere along the line decided it did not want to play up that history. The accused came from throughout Essex County. I do wish Salem didn’t quite go full tourist trap on this, and that more attention was paid to the very important real story, which has nothing to do with either Hallowe’en or modern Wiccanism.

I just opened Facebook for the first time today and my feed was full of the news that in the wee hours of this morning a gunman opened fire in a gay nightclub, killing 50 and wounding at least that many others. It is being called the largest mass shooting in US history:(

A plaza named for a Medal of Honor winner already flanked by the Rainbow flag because of the Pride weekend. It’s awful and my Muslim and LGBT friends are being so supportive of one another on social media but also scared at what this kind event will bring and the hatred it will sow. I stand in solidarity with them and every American and human being outraged at this senseless attack.
