After Ted Kennedy passed on August 25th of ’09, we had primaries on December 9th, and the special election was on January 9th.
When would Warren vacate her seat? November 9th, should Clinton/Warren win? January 20th, 2017? Where does that put the primary and election?
When would the GOP have Baker move to name a replacement? Right after the Dem convention? Force/pressure her to resign? Who would he name? A placeholder like Kirk, who promises not to be noticed? The predetermined eventual GOP candidate, who will start campaigning from a bully pulpit before the primary?
What will the Dems do? We really, really, really need that seat. Who the heck do we have in the wings?

He is popular, telegenic, youthful, has the best last name in the state and a national war chest. Seth and Clark want it, but they will wait for Markey to step down. Which I suspect he does after his term ends. I also think this is idle speculation since for the love of God Warren won’t be picked!

I can see that happening.
Tisei gets named by Baker, runs, and then loses.
I can also see Moulton jumping for Governor instead.

It’s not gonna be Liz. It was never going to be. My money’s on Tim Kaine, zzzzzzz. But I’d rather it be him than Liz, because Liz can get way more accomplished in the Senate (which will hopefully return to Dem. control)!
But if I’m wrong and it is Liz, read this.

Clearly, a puzzle.

What ever happened to our mini-Sanders?

Dr. Berwick aspires to a legislative role — or whether that would even be his best use.

The success he did have shows how far a boldly progressive platform can take you in this state, even if it’s fronted by an inexperienced and wooden candidate. He’d make a good cabinet secretary in the next Democratic corner office, maybe even in the next Democratic White House.
