Chris Christie
Multiple sources report this morning that contemporaneous text messages uncovered in a “Bridgegate” court filing show that Mr. Christie “flat out lied” in a December 2013 press conference:
During a December 2013 press conference, Christie was asked if he could “say with certainty” that no one on his staff was involved in the closure of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge three months earlier.
Christie said he was certain — including his top aide and campaign manager, Bill Stepien.
“Oh yeah. I’ve spoken to Mr. Stepien, who’s the person in charge of the campaign, and he has assured me the same thing,” Christie said.According to the filings, from Bridgegate defendant Bill Baroni, Christie aide Christina Renna then texted another Christie aide, Peter Sheridan.
“Are you listening? He just flat out lied about senior staff and Stepien not being involved,” Renna wrote.
“I’m listening… Gov is doing fine. Holding his own up there,” Sheridan responded.
“Yes. But he lied. And if emails are found with the subpoena or [Governor Christie’s re-election campaign ] emails are uncovered in discovery if it comes to that it could be bad.”

With all the talk about “honesty” in this campaign (even here on BMG), I think it’s important that we be CRYSTAL CLEAR about who lies and who does not.
We currently have a GOP nominee calling for his supporters to assassinate Hillary Clinton. We have one of his leading proponents caught, again, in a bold-faced lie — these are contemporaneous texts from his own staffers!
Our political system is in chaos. Our much-vaunted “free press” and “fourth estate” have, in essence, created these monsters by their consistent refusal to call them out for the reprobates they are. At the top of my list is Fox News, followed closely by CNN.
It is shameful that this party has more than single-digit support in America.

Now I been lookin’ for a job but it’s hard to find
Down here it’s just winners and losers
And don’t get caught on the wrong side of that line
Well I’m tired of comin’ out on this losin’ end
So honey last night I met this guy
And I’m gonna do a little favor for him
