Just thought I would briefly mention political developments to our north. By far the most significant races were both nomination contests for Governor which were hotly contested. For the Republicans, Executive Councilor Chris Sununu, son of Governor John and brother of Senator John E. will be the nominee. Democrats have nominated another Executive Councilor, Colin Van Ostern, who was actually an undergrad classmate of mine and was NHDP press secretary the same year I was on their field staff (2002). One of Colin’s key issues (arguably his number one) is very relevant on this side of the state line as he is a strong proponent of , and as Councilor made progress on, the proposal to extend the Lowell commuter rail line to Manchester, which he sees as critical to the economic development of NH’s Merrimack Valley. Maggie Hassan, Annie Kuster, and Carol Shea-Porter all officially became nominees in their respective races, but that has never really in doubt.
NH held a primary yesterday.

Guinta won; that’s bad, but the other guy might have been worse.

Phone banking NH for HRC on Monday, people were mentioning the primary and I had no clue. Bad me. Thanks for enlightening me on what this was all about.
