Disclaimer – I filed all Fiscal Year 2016 bills on or before June 30, 2016 and have been paid in full. Apparently those who filed on or after July 5, 2016 have not been paid in full, or for some, at all. The following letter was sent out via email by CPCS [The Committee for Public Counsel Services].

The state gets some money at the start of the Federal fiscal year, so when they have a little extra cash…
And yes, that has nothing to do with those services but, when they get that check….

The wait has gone into November or December before … in addition to often being the lowest paid professional in the court room, this is just one of the many ways those of us who serve in these terribly necessary, extremely labor intensive cases in Juvenile Court or Probate Court [in guardianships and representing the involuntarily committed] who have this kind of a vocation for service do endure. There is a reason there is a chronic shortage of attorneys willing to take court appointments. I admit that legal work that is about the problems and needs of ordinary or poor people is always paid far more poorly then legal work that is about money. First year associates in the Wall Street firms that manage hedge fund managers monies make more money even than our judges.
