On October 20th at 7:30 PM there will be a concert with the title “Music in Memory of Marc” with tickets set at $12.00 at The Regent Theater,. 7 Medford Street, Arlington, MA. This is the second such concert. It commemorates and builds upon a concert on July 8, 2012 which included Marc Aaron Butler, and was his last performance before his death from pancreatic cancer in September of 2012 and helped pay medical and living expenses as he could not work and his wife shut her law office to care for him. Marc sang with Iveria from 1990 until his death in 2012 – and in fact Iveria sang with Marc at least once a week during his cancer journey, singing with him six days before he died. So of course Iveria is singing at this concert!
He also sang in the choir of the Arlington Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1983 until 2012 – and they also sang with him during his cancer journey.
And Charley brought him soup, and we had been silent members of Charley’s audiences at times, probably unknown to him. I feel so glad Charley was willing to be the headliner for this concert.
And a bluegrass band, part of Best Ever Chicken (!) will be joining in the making of music in Marc’s memory – Sam Kendall, who is part of that band, sang with Marc as well.
All proceeds will be donated to Dana Farber Cancer Institute for pancreatic cancer research or The Pancreatic Cancer Action network [PanCan] for patient & family care and support as well as research; checks should be made out to one or the other organization. His wife Deborah Butler wishes to give back to both these organizations for their care and support of Marc during his cancer journey. Tickets can be ordered at this link: http://www.regenttheatre.com/details/music_in_memory_of_marc1 For more information about these organizations, see http://www.dana-farber.org/ and https://www.pancan.org
September is, for me, a month where the dates on the calendar are forever changed and charged – so I focused on giving birth to something good, and joyous and healing – and that became this concert. I hope to see many of you on October 20th.
