AG Maura Healey’s comments about Republican Gov. Charlie Baker, whose pleas not to prejudge President-elect Donald Trump’s appointments — which now include a rogues gallery of right-wing nutcases, not the least of which is Stephen Bannon — shows clearly the last GOPer to understand and work to further American values died in Ford’s Theater.
In addition to the appointment of crazies to his cabinet, Trump is already breaking his promise to the white working class to protect Social Security and Medicare. As Paul Krugman notes: “The transition team’s point man on Social Security is a longtime advocate of privatization, and all indications are that the incoming administration is getting ready to kill Medicare, replacing it with vouchers that can be applied to the purchase of private insurance.
