Trump’s speech in Warsaw was typically crafty. By repeatedly using the term “The West”, those who wanted to be reassured that it was a traditional foreign policy speech reasserting western democratic values as against authoritarianism could be so reassured.
Simultaneously, those who wanted to interpret “The West” to mean ‘culturally white’ European values as against multiculturalism and Islam could do so.
It is not encouraging that the press missed this or chose to ignore it.

Trump does not represent “The West”, ie. the best of the Enlightenment tradition of liberty and reason. He represents a dark and ignorant threat to it.

Trump’s jingoistic nationalism is the single biggest threat to US security, Western hegemony and world peace.

I don’t see it as jingoistic, at least yet. So far, it looks more like the birthing of a baby Francisco Franco with more personality. Franco cared only about enriching himself, robbing Spain of its resources, and punishing his enemies.
