As a college student, what I respect the most is consistency. In reality, most college students crave order, consistency and transparency. That is why the boy in his college sweatshirt freezes when he sees someone in his unspoken designated seat or everyone in the class rolls their eyes when a teacher unexpectedly changes the format of a test. Do not fear fellow classmates, Mr. Santos will put this fear to rest. Jeff Santos is currently running for a city council position in Cambridge,MA. He has been a Progressive Talk Show Host for the past 18 years. After listening to some of his radio posts here, Mr. Santos has faithfully used his platform to discuss issues facing the Middle Class such as social welfare, climate change, and police reform.
Even after 18 years of doing this show he continues to present more evidence to strengthen his fundamental views of society. A slogan for his talk show as mentioned in an article from 2016 is, “Kicking Ass for the Middle Class, every day!” Not only is it catchy, not only does it rhyme, but all of his shows connect to this theme. For example, he interviewed a Maryland representative named Chris Van Hollen at the DNC session called “Romney Economics: Wrong for the Middle Class” to talk about Medicare in 2012, click here to see the video. You can expect Jeff Santos to remain steadfast in his beliefs, no matter the passing of time, while growing in passion and providing the public with more knowledge in order to better defend themselves.
I hope the fact that he has never strayed from these founded beliefs encourages the younger demographic to go out to support him. He is engaging and talks about issues that occupies the minds of 20 somethings every day. As a senior in college, I plan on following his campaign trail closely to see where he goes next. Remember, a consistent candidate will lead to a steady and passionate council member. I think this country has suffered from enough surprises this past year.
