One part of the New Yorker article on Harvey Weinstein seemed a little vague. “. . . in 2015: after [Gutierrez] went to the police, negative items discussing her sexual history and impugning her credibility began rapidly appearing in New York gossip pages.” “Gossip pages”? Why not name the publication? I thought.
It was the New York Post. It wasn’t hard to find the articles in the Post’s archives, published late March and early April under the following bylines: Danika Fears, Maria Wiesner, Jamie Schram, Mara Siegler, Shawn Cohen.
In fact, somebody else had already done the research. Read this excellent article by Kelsey Sutton at Mic (https://mic.com/articles/185132/how-the-new-york-post-smeared-an-actress-who-accused-harvey-weinstein-of-sexual-harassment).
The only thing I have to add is this question. Has a crime been committed at the New York Post? How is this not Witness Intimidation, or Obstruction of Justice? I realize that there may be First Amendment issues involved, but I think the least Cyrus Vance can do is to check his campaign contributor list and see if he is permitted to investigate.
Witness Intimidation? Obstruction of Justice?
