From the NYT, 1982
“Showing what aides say is mounting frustration over news coverage of economic suffering in the United States, Mr. Reagan asked: ‘Is it news that some fellow out in South Succotash someplace has just been laid off, that he should be interviewed nationwide, or someone’s complaint that the budget cuts are going to hurt their present program?'”
Of course, unlike Trump, Reagan was insulting Americans.
So the next time someone complains about us elitists referring to “flyover country”, remind them that the proper term for where they live is “South Succotash.”
Please share widely!
Clearly another Hollywood elitist.
At least he didn’t say “Sufferin’ Succotash.”
