My wife keeps asking me, “Why doesn’t anyone do something?” and “How can this happen?”
I asked her, “How did it happen in Jonestown, Guyana with Jim Jones?”
She replied, “Well, but that was just a relatively small group of people.”
And I came back with “Yup, and now it’s the same thing, only bigger. Same principles apply. His admirers, his followers hear what they want to believe and follow him.”
She said, “But surely some Republicans know he’s mad and this is suicide!”
And I finished with “Yes, no doubt as surely as their were some sane minds in Jonestown, but the results tell the story.”
