Like the Trump White House and Russian collusion, the Steve Crosby Gaming Commission has raised many red flags that should naturally result in an FBI investigation.
Finally. some real corruption. Brian Joyce? Low hanging fruit. Don’t get me wrong. He needs to got to jail. But calling him corrupt is insulting to corrupt politicians. He just a fucking asshole who also is a pig. Screw him. We should be seeing a plea with him doing about 5 years I’m guessing.
Tom Finneran? Puleeze, fabricated case about phony perjury.
Probation? Bahaaaa, no corruption there.
The Boston calling indictments? That’s not pushing the prosecutorial envelope it’s inventing crimes where there are none.
But this. This is gold for a federal prosecutor. Steve Crosby and his bobo Jimmy “The Chin” McHugh made sure the fix was in for Wynn. They think they are so smart and we are so stupid. After they made sure the votes were there, McHugh voted for the Suffolk Downs site and Steve Crosby decided to abstain.
Paul Lohnes name ring a bell? Crosby’s close friend, former employee, and most important the guy who bailed out his fledging business with a million dollar infusion of cash a few years back. He also owned a piece of the Everett land sold to Wynn. After trying to hide this, then being confronted by the media, Crosby fesseed up and recused himself from the vote. Bet he did much to orchestrate the Wynn deal. The record is riddled with rulings and statements favorable to only the Wynn project and hurting the prospects for their competitors.
Anyway, Steve Tocco, Bill Weld, Jimmy “The Chin” McHugh, Tocco’s kid (yes, start there Andrew, he’s your weak link, crack like an egg.)
You may want to check out the deal they made with the MBTA for some Everett land. Wynn paid the T less than the assessed value. Jesus elfin’ Christ. He paid a million samoleons for a shit-hole of a house across the street (see, I’m current) worth no more than $150,000 without the casino.
If the governor or mayor signed a piece of paper reducing the price of a private land sale by $30 million a reasonable person would think there was a pay-off. Why else would it be done. Well, that is what the Gaming Commission did.
There’ so much stink here. Many were yelling about it as it was happening.
Anyway, how hard did the Gaming Commission look at Wynn? Did they go out of there way not to find anything? The WSJ had no problem finding 150 people to give the straight dope on Wynn, but the MA State Police found nada?
Hey that reminds me, weren’t there former state police big wigs working as private detectives for Wynn via Mintz Levin aka.Weld (Crosby’s former boss) , Tocco, Mo Cowen who were illegally allowed access to the state police investigative files?
Nobody at the Gaming Commission cared. So many red flags.
Talk about Trump and Russia.
Remember Vinny “the Chin” Gigante? He was the New York mobster who tried to beat a federal rap by faking he had Alzheimer’s. He walk around the neighborhood in an old bathrobe mumbling to himself. Well, I suggest Jim McHugh should be doing the same thing. He has some splainin to do to the feds. Like explaining why and how the gaming commission unilaterally reduced the sale price of the Everett land by $30 million. Say what?
And what about the legislature? Well they need to do what they did when they had the MBM scandal in the 70s. The need to activate the Post-Audit Committee and send out subpoenas. Did the Gaming Commission follow the laws they made regarding gaming? What about those land deals? This is exactly the type of situation the Post Audit Committee is there for.A once in a generation scandal.
Note: Harriet Chandler is THE Senate President. Not acting Senate President. No such thing. Show her the respect she and the office deserve.
One more thing. Commonwealth Magazine would love to report on this. I mean really report. But to do so means they have to go after the process that resulted in Wynn getting the license. Unfortunately, Commonwealth Magazine is a marketing tool of Mintz levin and they will handcuff one of the few outlets that can adequately report it. Shame.

I think David Boeri would be good on this as well.

Agree 100%.
How many laws and rules have been broken so far?
They should investigate issues around the Springfield casino, too.

Vintage eb3 in fighting form. This legacy matched with DCF is why Patrick for President is a joke. Especially when this bad casino bet really blows open the next few months.

On the connection between Wynn and Mintz Levin:
Reupping this post from last July about the gift the House of Representatives bestowed on casinos — letting them sell alcohol later than competing restaurants — just before House Ways and Means Chair Brian Dempsey resigned to take a job at Mintz Levin’s strategy shop.
