“Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year; it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” Representative John Lewis (D-GA)

History is destiny. “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it – always.” GANDHI
Funny, I was thinking the other day how what Gandhi said about Trump came true. First he was ignored, then he was laughed at, then he was attacked, and then he won. All the criticism of Trump feeds into his fascist victim mentality and reaffirms that he is on the right path. Similarly, if the opposition is less vocal, he will take that as a sign of proof of his skill and rightness. We are in a lose-lose situation with a fascist. When everything that he is doing implodes, the Democrats will be blamed, even if it isn’t true and they had nothing to offer but impotent obstruction. Facts don’t really matter to true-believers.
Trump is the inevitable result of the banality of “manifest destiny,” just as Marxists convinced themselves of the Hegalian dialectic. People can convince themselves of their own greatness to match their ambition pretty easily. The Bible shows that they will fail eventually. The internal contradictions can’t sustain themselves, but nevertheless, progress can be slow and the damage widespread in the interim. Personal enlightenment is a hard thing, and that is what it will take.
America needs an Awakening. I’m sure everyone who has cash invested in Wall Street will soon come to realize their errors and distain unearned income and divest in favor of a just society, right? After all, if you must be the change that you want in the world, what would one change about oneself?
History is not really destiny. We are our own destiny. The outlier is often right about something. The attacks of 9/11 were not without a purposeful intent. Wall Street is evil, but not in the way that bin Laden understood. Every bubble is within a bigger bubble. While Gandhi preached non-violence, as soon as the British abdicated there was bloodshed. The cycle of the liberator becoming the oppressor stems from a failure to see outside of ones own bubble. History is a crime scene and a puzzle, but once you can see the players as yourself, it becomes a lot clearer.
