If one more liberal:
1. Calls Giuliani stupid;
2. Says Giuliani is not serving his client (Trump’s) interests;
3. Fails to see that Giuliani is expertly prophylactically inoculating Trump by continually preparing us for Trump’s ever more obvious crimes; or
4. Believes these planted stories like the one in today’s The Hill about Trump being “apoplectic” about Giuliani,
I’m going to be reaffirmed in my belief in P.T. Barnum’s maxim that “Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public.”
Giuliani is continuing to brilliantly manipulate us by moving the goal posts like a champ.
Otherwise brilliant pundits from John Heilemann to Lawrence O’Donnell and even Rachel Maddow continue to buy it by saying Giuliani is either senile or incompetent. WRONG.
Let’s observe what Giuliani is actually doing before it is too late. He is expertly altering what is normal and what is shocking by ‘accidently’ preparing the public for facts ranging from Trump Tower negotiations in the middle of the 2016 campaign (old) to the potential existence of tapes (new).
Wake up and pay attention.

I have to say I’m one of those people who thinks Guiliani has to be the worst defense attorney ever. He contradicts himself and makes his client look worse every time he opens his mouth. If he were my lawyer I’d fire him. The facts you say he is preparing us for do not resolve in Trump’s favor.

I think Rudy’s only “game” is that he feels like he and Trump are in no jeopardy whatsoever as long as there’s a Republican Senate. He can say whatever insanely foolish and incriminating thing he wants, knowing that they’re all safe.

And… so what?
Making the blatant attempt and succeeding at it aren’t the same thing.
Reality always wins and it always wins on its own terms. Always.
