[Promotion comment:
This is extraordinary, a necessary clarifying moment in this whole wretched drama: A response both to the corrupt enablers in the GOP and also those on the left and center who would diminish the significance of the Russia investigation. Everyone needs to see it — some more than others. Please consider sharing the video far and wide in your networks. — Charley]
This is how patriots of truth, justice and freedom should always respond to fascist appeaser Trumpists who defend the indefensible.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff responds to Republican members call for his resignation with righteous indignation:
“My colleagues may think it’s okay…that the Russians offered dirt on the Democratic candidate for president… that when that was offered to the son of the president, that son said that he would ‘love’ the help of the Russians… that he took that meeting… that Paul Manafort also took that meeting…that they concealed it from the public…that when it was discovered a year later, they lied about that meeting…that the campaign chairman of a presidential campaign would offer information about that campaign to a Russian oligarch…that that campaign chairman offered polling data to someone linked to Russian intelligence…that the president himself called on Russia to hack his opponents emails…that later that day Russians attempted to hack a server affiliated with that campaign…that the president’s son in law sought to establish a secret back channel of communications through a Russian diplomatic facility…that an associate of the president made direct contact with the GRU (former KGB) through Guccifer 2.0 and Wikileaks, that the National Security Adviser designate secretly conferred with the Russian Ambassador about undermining U.S. sanctions…and lied about it to the FBI.
You might say that’s all okay…But I don’t think it’s okay. I think it’s immoral. I think it’s unethical. I think it’s unpatriotic. And yes, I think it’s corrupt and evidence of collusion.”
Lawrence O’Donnell thinks this rant might rank up there with “Have you no sense of decency?”
I heard it more as Schiff’s ‘finest hour’ of righteous indignation at Trumpist hypocrisy.
A rant is speaking in a wild or violent way. To the contrary, I thought Schiff was on point, brilliant, passionate and in complete control throughout.
This was a great moment. I’m going to find the video to embed.
Charley, thanks for sharing the powerful video.
You might think it’s ok for the Democratic majority in the House, including the Speaker, to listen to this crisp presentation and still not move forward with impeachment proceedings.
I don’t.
I can’t resist …
“You might think that I support impeachment based on all this, but I couldn’t possibly comment.”
I donated via ActBlue the moment I saw this. I want him to be able to demonstrate national support, a big Stick,
This is a great video and Mr. Schiff makes a great case.
What are we going to do about it? Mr. Nadler chairs the House Judiciary Committee.
What stops Mr. Nadler from moving forward with impeachment hearings?
Who does Mr. Schiff need to persuade with fabulous monologues like this?
