The media will never treat a Trump policy with the same degree of skepticism or hostility that they routinely show toward single payer health care or frankly any progressive priority. They failed to ask President Bush where the weapons were or how he would pay for the war or win the peace. They routinely fail to ask this president when Mexico will pay for the wall, how much money he has made in office, or about any of the many ongoing investigations into his election, his businesses, or his sexual predation.
None of that is fair game. We can talk all day long about how Fox has become Pravda, but even the mainstream media-heirs to the Murrow and Cronkite legacy-routinely treat this president with deference he doesn’t deserve or respect he hasn’t earned. That is their default when they aren’t busy downplaying or laughing off his very damaging agenda.
Not once in this campaign has he been asked about Flint. Not once has he been asked about Puerto Rico. Not once has he been asked about threats to the “squad” and how he felt about it. Instead of treating the domestic terrorism threats to those four innocent members of Congress as an inevitable cause of Trumps rhetoric they continue to malign them today as so called extremists destroying the Democrats 2020 opportunity by dragging the party to the “far left”. When will we hear about the consequences of Donald Trump dragging his party and our country to the far right?
