Tonight on the PBS Newshour, it was reported that Boris Johnson’s popularity is actually increasing. If England forces a no deal Brexit, I hope Scotland and Northern Ireland leave the United Kingdom.
The U.K. will richly deserve its demise.
Utter fools are ascending all over the world. History has been muted, despised, and disregarded. History remains, whether these fools choose to remember it or not. If we choose to pretend history is irrelevant, we will pay dearly.

Johnson just lost his majority in Parliament today when Tory MP Phillip Lee defected to Jo Swinson and the Liberal Democrats.
Tick, Tick, Tick!

But the possible permutations of what could happen are incredibly complex. For example, Boris is actually trying to force a vote of no confidence so that the scheduling of a general election will help delay consideration of parliamentary legislation meant to stop a no-deal Brexit.
So this could be something rotten in Denmark.

“Boris Johnson’s populist playbook implodes” is the headline today of Jennifer Rubin’s Washington Post story : “The right-wing populist canard rests on a premise that works only if populists never get elected. You know how it goes: Politics is corrupt. The populist “alone” can fix it and those that oppose him are enemies of the state who thwart his ability to fix things. The kicker of course is that right-wing populists, being snake oil salesmen and anti-government nihilists, don’t know how to fix much of anything, and after all the huffing and puffing, the public gets the idea the populist cult leader is an incompetent charlatan. And here I’m not talking about President Trump, or rather only about Trump.
The Post reports that Prime Minister Boris Johnson, under public assault for his scheme to suspend Parliament to push through a no-deal Brexit, has now lost his majority.”

Johnson was mocked and humiliated as the House of Commons voted 328 to 301 to approve the emergency debate motion on European Union, then fired the 21 Tories who voted against him — including Winston Churchill’s grandson!

Which begs the question?
Why can’t our ‘Tories’ grow a spine and stand up to Chump and Moscow Mitch?

@ why can’t our Tories …:
Because our Tories need illegal Russian assistance to retain even a hope and prayer of remaining competitive in 2020. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are not about to do or say anything that might weaken or impede Russian efforts on their behalf.

Also our “Tories” need the swamp to drain money and perks into their personal coffers with revolving doors while their Tories still tend to come from the same gentry and public school set that traditionally dominates politics in Britain.
It still takes way more courage for Clarke to give up a nearly 40 year career, Soames to give up his grandfathers (Winston Churchill) constituency, and Stewart to put the country over being a rising star. It’s most impressive and definitely lacking on our side of the pond. Preserving the national interest is traditional conservatism, our “conservatives” have become corporate friendly Peronists backing their caudillo.
