Last night the Democratic State Committee ratified the Site Selection Subcommittee’s recommendation that the 2020 Massachusetts Democratic Convention be held at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. The main plenary session will be on Saturday, May 30, 2020 which will include the endorsement for United States Senate. There will likely be Friday night activities, but no formal session. The caucus window will be February 15th-March 22nd.

I’m glad that the Party chose a site that is accessible by rail.
The Tsongas arena is a one-mile walk from the closest commuter rail station. That will be hard for some, but is at least possible.
In a more perfect world, the MBTA would schedule extra commuter trains to and from the event just as they now schedule special trains for the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics.
Lowell has always been great about providing shuttle service between the station, arena, and ICC. I’m not sure this is quite as big an event that would create demand comparable to sporting events.
