Delegate selection in Massachusetts used to take place at regional caucuses, with attendance at the caucus required to vote. This year delegate selection will take place by Mail-In ballot. Send for your ballot by April 22; fill out the form at http://massdems.org/nationalconvention. Ballots will be mailed April 24; return them postmarked no later than May 4. That page also has a list of delegate candidates and district allocations, including yours truly, who would be honored to receive one of your two votes for CD5 female delegate for Elizabeth Warren (CD5 residents only). Whatever your district, and whether you choose to elect Biden delegates, Sanders delegates, or Warren delegates, I hope you will participate.
The untold story: This process represents a MUCH broader access to the ballot than having to spend a Saturday attending a meeting in an inconvenient part of the district, though I’ve heard people say “it’s DSC members who mostly vote for this anyway.” On one level, you may not care who represents the candidates, and this year much uncertainty remains about whether delegates will in fact gather in Milwaukee in August. But I encourage all registered Democrats to send for a ballot and exercise your right to decide who represents you at the Convention. (I guess I’ve gotten into the habit of encouraging people to vote.)
As for me, Elizabeth Warren’s 2012 Senate contest was the reason I started volunteering on and donating to campaigns, joined my local Malden Democratic Committee, became a ward chair, and have even thought about attending the National Convention. If she’s in this fight, I need to be in it too. While the primaries were disappointing, I will be 100% behind our nominee–and a progressive platform. Having been to these caucuses I can attest that it is a lot more than DSC members who show up. It is a major GOTV effort on the part of would-be delegates.

Yes, that’s what I’ve heard too; though I’ve never been, I have talked with some veterans of the process. The “DSC” thing is more a perception than a reality, I guess. The dynamic will be different this time around anyway, it seems to me. The ask is much more modest for a mail-in ballot. It will be interesting to see how the vote totals compare with past years.
