I’ve always been a both/and kind of guy. Some allies are new to the cause or coming from more moderate places and that’s okay. I like Campaign Zero and the abolitionist campaign because they reinforce one another. The latter keeps the former honest and makes it more likely to be implemented. Every Martin needs a Malcolm. Every Andrew Young in Congress needs a Huey Newton in the streets. That’s how change has always happened in America. Outsiders making insiders adapt and change. So yes I’m voting for Biden and donating to mainstream Democrats in other states because I want to remove the cancer of this racist administration from power. I also know that the Democrats are not immune to the structural racism plaguing our institutions and need to be pushed to be better. So it’s always been both/and. I protest and I vote. I meet people where they are and hope to guide them/be guided to where we need to go. I do my best and I know it’s not enough.
