  1. I think BDS, the Joint List, and various Palestinian rights groups have a golden opportunity to link their cause with black lives matter. My Muslim students have already done this and are active in both movements. Peter Beinart, like me, a recovering liberal zionist, had a great piece in the Times outlining what a real push for Palestinian equality will look like.

    While Palestinians have asked ‘the bullet or the ballot box?’ in the past, it has been in the context of forming their own state. Since Israeli annexation of the occupied territories is now the inevitable and overt goal of not only Netenyahu, but his leading opposition leader, it is time for America and Palestinians alike to cut bait on the two state solution and demand equal citizenship for everyone, Jew or Arab, under Israeli governance.

    Sen. Warren is doing phenomenal work at trying to delay the inevitable, but I suspect the real debate in the next few decades will be how to coerce Israel into abandoning apartheid rather than abandoning annexation. A fait acompli thanks to Donald Trump.
