I’m 66 years old. I’ve been a Republican, Democrat, independent. I voted for Anderson, Carter, Dole, Obama, Bush (both of them). Over the years I’ve known lots of Democrats, Republicans, independents.
Over the past couple of years and a little more recently, I’ve noticed a number of people self-describing themselves as a Trump Supporter, not a Republican, not a conservative; a Trump Supporter.
I’ve never seen anything like this. I’ve never met anyone who called them selves an Obama supporter. I think the closest I’ve heard has been when people call themselves an “FDR Democrat” (I do this myself at times), or then there were the Reagan Republicans and even (shock!) Reagan Democrats.
Has anyone else noticed this?
