I nearly fell over when I saw this headline in my feed today. I assumed that something like this in my lifetime would have been agreed to by the overwhelming majority. I know it still occasionally causes controversy, but I just assumed it was provoked by a few Fundamentalists punching above their weight. Then again, this country has proven itself more racist in the last few years than I ever thought, so what do I know? SMH!

Heh. I’m reminded of the perhaps apocryphal quotes of people who said “I oppose socialized medicine, and they better keep their hands off of my Medicare”.
I wonder how many of the people who now say they accept evolution also maintain that the Earth is six (or ten) thousand years old.
At least it seems that some small progress is being made.
