Has anyone noticed the victim status that the right has laid claim to in order to defend themselves from any criticism or accusations of wrong doing?
Again, when I watch Fox News, their is a daily headline about crime, a border crisis, and of course, emotionally weighted terms like mandate and lockdown, all, as it seems to me, in a effort to make the viewer or reader see themselves as a victim. Of course, it is quite common in the USA for us to grant carte blanche status to victims. They were innocent. They bare no responsibility for the things they feel they must do. They are victims of election fraud so they need to restrict voting rights. The were victims in the streets of Portland and they needed to storm the Capitol to protect themselves from another attack by antifa of BLM. They are victims of lockdowns and mandates even though no one has been locked down or mandated to be vaccinated.
Kyle Rittenhouse was portrayed as a victim, even though he left the safety and security of his home and entered a public disturbance he knew would be violent, so he brought along a deadly weapon.
Trump is not as stupid as he may seem. Allow the people to see themselves as victims, they will love you and they will support atrocities against anyone who disagrees
They can also give the Left a run for their money when it comes to cancelling.

There can be a subtlety to this identification as a victim. Here is Joan Didion on Victor Davis Hanson, an historian whom I have heard on CSPAN say USAmerica fought WWII to end the Holocaust and that Baris Weiss was fired from the NYTimes when she actually quit:
